5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice—a practice of being in your body— created by Gabrielle Roth in the late 1970’s, that ignites creativity, connection, and community.

While a seemingly simple process, the 5Rhythms practice facilitates deep and unending explorations, moving the dancer beyond self-imposed limitations and isolation into new depths of creativity and connection.

It is a movement meditation practice that offers a pathway to self-discovery, healing, and transformation. The Essential Wave is the foundational practice of the 5Rhythms, guiding participants through a fluid and intuitive movement journey that encompasses five distinct rhythms:

Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness

intuitive inner discovery, inviting you to explore movement in a new way like an explorer arriving on a new land. Supported by the beautiful guidance in the Waves structure, I take you on a deep embodied understanding of each rhythm through its gateway (body part entry point for each rhythm).

Staccato ignites your passion and precision, guiding you to explore clear, rhythmic patterns and boundaries.

Chaos unleashes your wild and untamed energy, inviting you to let go of control and embrace the unpredictable.

Lyrical invites you to soar and expand, expressing yourself with creativity and joy.

Stillness invites you to ground and integrate, finding peace and presence in the quiet moments of reflection.
